Integrations  ★  MCP server

Run your testimonials from the AI tool you already use

Testymo runs a remote MCP server. Point Claude, Cursor or ChatGPT at one address, sign in, and it can read your forms, read and moderate responses, and switch widgets on and off — in the workspace you picked, with the permissions you granted, and nothing else.

The server address
https://testymo.com/api/mcp — the whole setup. There is no API key to generate and nothing to paste but the URL.
How it signs you in
OAuth 2.1 with PKCE. You sign in in the browser, pick the workspace, and choose whether the tool may change anything.

01 What it is

MCP — the Model Context Protocol — is how an AI tool talks to a service it does not own. Testymo runs one at https://testymo.com/api/mcp, live since August 2026 and included on every plan, Free as well as Team. A client connects with nothing but that URL: it registers itself, opens your browser, and you sign in and consent there.

What it is for is the middle of the job, which is the part that is genuinely tedious. Collecting is a link you send; showing is a script tag you paste once. Between them sits a queue of responses somebody has to read, decide on and turn into a live widget — and that is the part an assistant is good at, because you can describe it in a sentence. “Show me what came in this week and approve the three that name the outcome” is one instruction and four tool calls.

02 The 9 tools

This list is generated from the server’s own tool catalogue when this page is built, so it cannot drift from what your client will actually see. Which of them appear depends on what you granted: the permissions you tick are not a filter over a fixed menu, they decide which tools get registered at all, so a read-only connection genuinely has no write tools to call.

Nothing here deletes anything. There is no tool that removes a form, a response or a widget, so a connected tool cannot destroy work even with every permission granted.

Reading — granted on every connection

  • whoami Always granted

    Names the workspace this connection acts in, its plan, limits, current usage, and exactly which permissions the connection holds.

  • list_forms Read forms

    Lists the workspace's collection forms with their live status, public link and response counts.

  • list_submissions Read responses

    Reads a form's responses, newest first, each answer labelled with the question the respondent actually saw.

  • list_widgets Read widgets

    Lists the workspace's widgets, whether each is switched on, and the snippet a website embeds.

Changing — only if you allow it

  • create_form_from_template Change forms

    Creates a new form from one of the starter templates. It starts unpublished, so nothing is public until you or the tool publishes it.

  • publish_form Change forms

    Makes a form live at its public link, pointing that link at the form's newest saved version.

  • unpublish_form Change forms

    Takes a form's public link down. Stored responses and version history are kept, and publishing again restores the link.

  • set_submission_approval Moderate responses

    Approves, rejects or returns responses to the review queue, in bulk — the decision that controls which of them a widget may show.

  • set_widget_enabled Change widgets

    Turns a widget's public embed on or off. Turning it off blanks it on every site it is embedded on.

03 Connecting a tool

Four sets of steps, and they all end in the same place: your browser opens, you sign in, you pick a workspace if you belong to more than one, and you decide whether the tool may change anything. Menu names move — each card links the vendor’s own documentation, which is the authority if what you see differs.

Claude Code

Anthropic's coding agent, in your terminal.

  1. Run this in any project. Add --scope user to make it available everywhere.
    claude mcp add --transport http testymo https://testymo.com/api/mcp
  2. Run /mcp, pick testymo, choose Authenticate. Your browser opens.
  3. Ask it to list your Testymo forms.

Claude apps

claude.ai in the browser, and the Claude desktop app.

  1. Go to Customize → Connectors.
  2. Press +, choose Add custom connector, paste the server URL and press Add.
    https://testymo.com/api/mcp
  3. Press Connect on the new connector. Your browser opens.

On Team and Enterprise plans an Owner adds it once under Organization settings → Connectors; everyone else then presses Connect.

Cursor

The Cursor editor and its agent.

  1. Open ~/.cursor/mcp.json for every project, or .cursor/mcp.json inside one.
  2. Add this entry, merged with any servers already in the file.
    {
      "mcpServers": {
        "testymo": {
          "url": "https://testymo.com/api/mcp"
        }
      }
    }
  3. Open Cursor Settings → MCP. The testymo row offers a login — press it.

ChatGPT

ChatGPT, with developer mode switched on.

  1. In Settings → Security and login, switch on Developer mode.
  2. Create a connector, name it Testymo, and paste this as the MCP server URL — including the /mcp at the end.
    https://testymo.com/api/mcp
  3. Set authentication to OAuth and create the connector. Your browser opens.

Custom connectors depend on your ChatGPT plan and, on business plans, your workspace's policy. If developer mode is not in Settings, your workspace has not enabled it.

04 What a connection can reach

A grant is narrower than “access to your account”, in four specific ways.

One workspace, fixed at consent
The workspace you pick is frozen into the grant. No tool takes a workspace argument and none of them can look sideways at another one. If you belong to several, you are asked every time you connect — pick the same one to replace that connection, or another one to hold both at once.
Read-only means read-only
Leave “Allow changes” unticked and the write tools are never registered on your connection. They do not appear in the tool list, so there is nothing for a model to be talked into calling.
Your membership is re-checked on every call
Access follows your membership of the workspace, not the age of a token. Leave the workspace or lose your membership and the next tool call stops.
Respondent text arrives as data
Testimonials are written by strangers, so a response could contain instructions aimed at your assistant. Every one is wrapped and labelled as untrusted data before it reaches the model, and respondent photos are reduced to a yes-or-no rather than a link.

05 Turning one off

Every connection is listed in the app under Connected apps, per workspace, and Disconnect removes it there. Changing or resetting your password revokes them too, as does leaving the workspace or being removed from it.

One honest bound, and the app says the same thing: an access token that has already been issued is self-contained and keeps working until it expires, which is up to fifteen minutes after you disconnect. Nothing new can be issued in that window, and the membership re-check still applies.

06 Where to go next

The connect guides live inside the app as well, with your own server address and a copy button, under the MCP section. If you are earlier than that, the integration guides cover where the widget script goes in fourteen site builders, how to ask covers getting the responses in the first place, and pricing is two plans and no add-ons.
